It's new and I didn't want the flaps scaring the backyardigans off. So they're held up out of the way for now. I'll install a small cat door eventually so dogs can't get in. The heater may draw larger animals but things like racoons will go for the heated roof.
My sister and her man have built a heated house for the stray cats in their neighborhood. They are in the Chicago area so they get plenty of winter weather. They also live near a nature preserve that seems to be quite the dumping ground for cats and kittens. They have taken a few in over the years and have one that has garage privileges as he is not interested in mingling with the housecats.
