Once, they put their hopes in Donald Trump. Now they’re looking to Putin. ‘I often say it feels like our positive vision of 1950s America.’
It was probably January 2023 when Joseph Rose, a 49-year-old YouTuber from Tallahassee, Florida, realized God had sent him to Moscow.
“I do think it was God leading me to where I needed to be right now,” Rose told me over the phone. He was in his apartment, with recessed lighting and a sauna and an odd pirate theme, outside the center of the Russian capital. “I would say that Russia is becoming a bastion of Christianity and that America is becoming the opposite of this.”
I spoke to twenty American expats, all men, who have moved to Russia over the past four years. They told me they moved to Moscow or St. Petersburg or the wild east—Siberia—because they no longer believed the one person they once thought could save America—Donald Trump—could still save it. America, they felt, was beyond saving now.

No kidding! Those Christians are not able to realize for some reason that America, the USA, is not about religion, as there is supposed to be any link between religion and the US government. It is not like America needs saving, anyway, and if it did, it would only please Christians like that Youtuber who moved to Moscow.
Not everyone may be doing this in the end, but someday, it will be clear to most that the world does not revolve around Christianity.

During the 2016 election cycle, I saw his supporters wearing t-shirts captioned, "I'd rather be a Russian than a Democrat!". Men old enough to have lived through the Cold War, including crawling under their desks in case we were nuked (by Russia). Fucking stupid.

I see. About those supporters wearing those t-shirts, that is ridiculous of them. Also, it is ridiculous that they'd rather support Russia after all the threats of nukes Russia, as the Soviet Union, would give to the USA. This would be hypocrisy of those supporters would it?

Some canadian youtubers did the same thing awhile back, uprooted their kids and all their stuff and moved to russia.
They ended up stranded and penniless, ofc.

Yeah, I read about that here. Quite sad. They really made a dumb choice since they did not like how things were going in Canada, just to lose their money and have nowhere to go.
