Heresy Hypothesis

True, but I still like to lump them into the same category because, at the end of the day, there's more difference in the costume than in the theology. With one you get burned at the stake as the priest cries, "die heretic" and the other you get your head cut off while the mullah screams "death to the infidel". I can't find a dime's worth of difference.

I define it a little more broadly.

Anyone who thinks Jesus came into the world by a virgin and left it by flying up into the sky is a Christian.

This way, Muslims are included.

So you define muslims as xtians? That may be taking it a little too far.

I think we can both agree that they are all shitheads, though.

Fair enough. We can classify them as shitheadists.

Like it or not DBP (and anyone else) that's the way it is. Of course Christians existed before that, but that's the accepted qualification. Of course you are at liberty to say what you want... if it floats your boat then why not.

Ok so you are the aribiter of christianity are you?

Any christian has to pass the Frodo test before they are accepted as 'true scotsmen' err I mean christians?

The truth is there are many shades of christianity not all of them agree with the nicene creed.

By putting too much importance on it, it seems you discounting many people from christianity.

This from wikipedia.

Many evangelical Protestants reject creeds as definitive statements of faith, even while agreeing with some creeds' substance. The Baptists have been non-creedal “in that they have not sought to establish binding authoritative confessions of faith on one another.” [31]:p.111 Also rejecting creeds are groups with roots in the Restoration Movement, such as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Churches of Christ.[32][33]:14-15[34]:123

So if theyre not christians what would you call them Frodo?

You know how it is, only sheep can tell each other apart.

To the rest of us they are all identical in their sheepness.

Did I say I was? No. I told you what defines Christians to Christians. You can make up what gibberish you like, that's fine.

Sorry to pop your bubble. Just stick your fingers back in your ears and sing lalala. It'll all be alright soon.

Non Christians... sure

Many ppl call themselves Christians even though they are clearly not. Many Christians disagree on creeds but are still Christians. Baptists are Christians.

Not according to Frodo.

Our definition of what makes a christian a christian vary widely.

lets see what wikipedia says.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian

Which boils down to there is no concencus on what a being a christian means.

Frodo can stick his fingers in his ears and sing 'the most wonderful thing about christians is I'm the only one' as much as he likes but it is of course false.

RE: Heresy Hypothesis
As a secular definition of something wooly and atheist, yeah sure, you can be as non specific as you like. However, if you want to know what actually defines a Christian according to Christianity itself, then you can't plead ignorance.

You're a fucking idiot DBP.
