I don't know about this 'Male tone', Rhiz... what did you mean? Smile

I mean the type of stuff you talk about and how you talk about things. I can't cite what I am talking about (well other than your obvious interest in video games) because it is a culmination of my impression from every post of yours that I have read. I thought you were a tomboy at first but then you said some particularly telling things about transgenderism that got me thinking. It was this post http://atheistforums.org/thread-2147-pos...e#pid40066 when you were supposed to know that I knew you were a guy. I was going to PM you to make sure, but thought better of it because it doesn't really matter. You are Sae to me, a girl on the forums who has some brilliant insights about some things and an incredible ability to bring my face and palm into contact with alarming frequency! Tongue Smile

I mean no disrespect by mentioning your male tone, I am just pointing at what tipped me off. There is no way to prove that I have known for a little bit other than that one telling word inserted into our past for the express purpose of proving that. I knew it would come up at some point, just didn't think it would be this soon.

I have a friend who was studying to become a psychologist and he told me about a study they did on chatrooms. I tried to find a source but couldn't find the right collection of words to google to yield positive results. The goal of the study was to find out exactly what characteristics you could discern from talks with a person over a chatroom and the only thing that reliably came through was gender. What is interesting is that most of what you post is girly, so it's not totally obvious, it was just enough, paired with your references to transgenderism, to tip me off. fnordThe radio in my fingernail helped too!fnord

Lol ^_^ I suppose you've met only a few 'girl gamers', Rhizo? Tongue What in particular did I say about transgenderism that particularly got you thinking? Smile This forum could do with a Facepalm emoticon Tongue

I didn't either... the first one I told took me a very long time to tell (think hours and hours of gauging their reaction to the knowledge) Tongue And the second one took me about half the time to do so... and then I gauged a small 'control group' (if you will).. and nobody was rude or violent about it.

So I have 1650+ posts... and if someone has a problem with me being fully honest: They can bite off both of their left ankles for all I care Tongue

Glad to hear it took the references to 'seep through' Tongue

I really am quite a bit of a 'girly girl'. What is interesting is that my parents (and the hate-groups at 'school') can't see me for who I am... I just can't fathom how some people can't see it. Tongue

Sae,

I bet it was hard to tell people, I can only imagine! For the record I think transgenderism is delusion. I don't think any less of you and have at least hardwired myself to just roll with whatever someone else wants to refer to themselves as. Like I said, "You are Sae to me, a girl on the forums..."

Transgenderism doesn't interest me, I am neither attracted nor repulsed. It seems to be a form of self-mutilation brought on by body dysmorphic disorder. The only thing that interests me about it is a similarity to my own issue. I have wanted to sever my left hand and can point to the exact spot where I would cut. It really acts up when I am stressed. I have stood in my kitchen with a knife poised to slice right through, but always manage to restrain myself. I learned there was a name for this specific disorder from Maxim, of all places! I can't remember or find the name of the disorder but it was funny for me to see they had a name for it!

Sae,

I hear you, and just re-read my post realizing that it could come off harsh. It wasn't an argument, just an incomplete inventory of my thoughts on the subject. Whatever confusion you have I would be glad to talk about. I may come off as an uncultured troglodyte, but I refuse to support anything simply because it is popular, or because voicing my lack of support would solicit a negative response. I live for honesty and I honestly just don't get it.

Respond here, don't respond, or take it to PMs if you would rather talk there, your choice.

I didn't see it either because I wasn't looking and don't care about your gender identity. To me your are simply a pleasant, witty and smart personality on a forum, who seems like a decent person. What else do I need to know?

Sadly,in choosing to share that information, you will always come across ignorant dropkicks who will say stupid and hurtful things. Ignore the fools;you have no obligation to defend or explain yourself to others.

When people say "I'm honest and value honesty" they are often lying, deluded or just ignorant. What they mean is "I'm blunt, insensitive and lack empathy". EVERYONE lies, about once every ten minutes,it's only a matter of degree.

People lie. So what? People in general are the sum of all parts, including the lowest common denominators. That has no bearing on Sae or anyone else declaring what they are, for whatever reason. This 'delusion' talk reeks of something foul, as if I can imagine an argument claiming that homosexuality is a delusion. Fact is, someone has associated themself with a group and identifies with it, just like many of us identify as atheists on this here forums. Ignoring who or what someone is because you want to remain pure is, in my humble opinion, "just dumb" and attempts to steer clear of any controversy. Deal with them for who they are. Training tolerance requires that which you are not familiar with.
