How old were you when you became athiest?
#11
RE: How old were you when you became athiest?
I'm a slow learner, so, I just called the BS card a month ago? (I'm 26)

Who here saw ghosts when they were little? Not just shadows or sounds.. actual apparitions? My sightings of such things are what gave me irrefutable doubt all throughout that there is more than this physical life.. I've thrown them out as childs' nonsense, but I do have an open mind on the subject Smile
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

My girlfriend claims to see them, especially her cat.

I don't believe in them, but I'm not unwilling to consider their existence. I have a very hard time with horror movies, games, novels... I'm a bit of a mouse Smile

Well, George is basically her Guardian Kitty. He was more of a dog than a cat... I can better relate to dogs. I mean, I'm the Forum Puppy Dog Bone

@ OP

Born this way. Was never convinced, no matter how hard the priest/ pastors/ ministers tried.

Guessing I was anti-establishment from a very young age....like 0

To be honest I am not really shure.

I always say 8, because that is when my parents decided that they would no longer drag me to church and give me religious stuff to read, so I could decide for myself.

But it really was never of any big relevance in my life.

I was spoon fed religion from around 4-5 to the age of 10. It all stopped once I reached 11. During the brainwashing attempts, I never believed what they were telling me, seemed rather stupid, not making any sense. I never knew what an atheist was, never heard of it before the age of 16, but I was an atheist all my life. Never did I believe.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

From birth I suppose, I'm not sure if I really had a serious religious belief, I remeber singing some hymns and stuff at school but I didn't think much about it back then.

It's curious how many of us were born, didn't care much for religion, and at 8~12yo became aware that we didn't believe something a lot of other people believed.

No-one is born believing anything if you want to be technical. I was perobably about 12 when I discovered that such a thing as atheism existed. I read about it in a book written by a Blue Peter presenter in the school library.
