The only point I wish to touch upon, albeit while wearing surgical gloves and with a healthy amount of alcohol-based hand scrub afterwards, is that this idea of "something from nothing" is a theistic one upon which their whole fairytale is based.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Existance is 60% of a more stable condition than non-existance. At the point of singularity, time does not exist. There is no "before" the existance of the point of singularity. Nor is there anything outside of that point. That frame of reference does not exist. The only thing that existed before the singularity was the singularity. How long did the singularity exist before it expanded? That can not be answered because time did not exist until the point expanded. We didn't get something from nothing, we got something from something. Virtual particles is something from nothing.
