The Realm of Horror
#11
RE: The Realm of Horror
I've been a fan of horror movies and fiction for as long as I can remember. It started with the Universal monster movies, then the Vincent Price E.A. Poe movies from the 60s. I can watch any type of horror film, but slasher films like the Scream and Halloween movies hold zero interest for me. A lunatic with a knife isn't horror in my opinion, it's another murder mystery.

To me, horror implies something unnatural or supernatural is the root cause of whatever is occurring in the film. My 2 favorite current horror movies are The Witch and Hereditary. If you're not ready to be disturbed by a film, then definitely skip Hereditary, this film is brutal.

Love a good horror movie.

I have a great dislike for splatter movies.

Jaws was the first movie ever to truly scare the shit out of me.
I was into slasher movies more than horror. I loved the Friday The 13th series up through the 4th, but then when it started getting supernatural I lost all interest.

Little known horror movie back in the 70s I still love to this day is "Trilogy Of Terror". It was a 3 mini movies in one. The last segment was about an Spear hunting statue that came to life when the necklace fell off, and chased the lady around her apartment trying to stab her to death.

The only two "supernatural" movies that I got into as a kid were The Exorcist and Carrie. But I did like Poltergeist. But as I got older all the super natural stuff ceased to make sense to me.

It was a Zulu fetish doll that terrorized Karen Black. It came to life because the charm around its waist fell off.

Love a good horror movie, but, of course, the operative word here is "good."

I don't much care for horror movies and I don't like gore. But Qaatermass and the Pit is still one of my favorite films.

Hobb's End. Loverly.

I suggest you give the other Quatermass movies a miss. Not very well done.
