Slam dunk - Jesus had no clue

RE: Slam dunk - Jesus had no clue
What would Jesus do? He would tell you to cut off your balls, slice off your hand, gouge out your eyes, kill a fig tree, and hate your family. But please don't listen to Jesus. He was a deluded impostor.

(Mat 19:12, Mat 18:8-9, Mark 11:12-25, Luke 14:26)
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Long time no see ronedee! I hope you are well.

You kind of have to be certain you know what the Bible was supposed to say for it to be obvious that something was lost in translation. That's knowledge you can't possibly possess.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Heya MA! I hope you are well also.

You know me, I like to throw a hot coal from titme to time Just to let the cohort know what their destiny is!  Hehe

Anyway, we really don't know the entire context of that passage? Nor, the period translations and meanings. I won't be a Theo-apologist. That don't play well here. Just offering that there are reasons it might not be literal oand have other ways to interpret it? I mean He got so much right!

IF this is the best that anyone has to diminish or refute Jesus? Uh....nope!

Ah yes, context. So, jw's thought that the "context" was them. Between 1878 and 1925 the watchtower society predicted the second coming (already an excuse for the failure of the first) five times. 50 years of failed predictions. They let that cool for 50 years after that but couldn't help themselves. Did it again in 1975. It was only in 1995 that they let go of the idea that the second coming would have to happen during the life of the generation from 1914, and then in 2010 they changed their official doctrine on the subject.

It's a failed prediction. Always was. Always is. Intuitively, we think this would be a problem for religions based on predicitions... but, obviously, it's not.

Jesus' boys are like Trump's boys when it comes to their messiah: no matter what deceitful, horrible and cowardly stuff Jesus/ Trump has said and done, they ignore it and push their own version of Jesus/ Trump as they see him in their imagination.

You are laughing to yourself how you ignore deceitful, horrible and cowardly stuff Jesus has said and done.

Mark 13:27-30 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven...Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till ALL these things be done.

Luke 21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till ALL be fulfilled.

Jesus could have been directing that statement to the Jewish opposition there around him at that time, who, within a generation would see the destruction of Jerusalem in 66 - 70 C.E. by Titus, the son of Emperor Vespasian where 1,100,000 Jews died and 97,000 were taken captive, most of whom died horrible deaths and the Christians who knew it would come were saved. (Matthew 24:16, 22) And Jesus may have been applying the same to those in opposition in the future as well.
