RE: atheist can't accept new ideas
Its the 'your not open minded because you reject my idea' ploy.
I hear this a lot from spiritualists, (not my wife thankfully).

She refuses to accept anything that may make her challenge her belief. She only reads, watch, and lesion to things that reinforces her belief.

I do not think it is necessary to believe that the same God who has given us our senses, reason, and intelligence wished us to abandon their use, giving us by some other means the information that we could gain through them

The fact that atheists reject religious ideas does not mean that they are going to be less acceptable of other non-religious ideas also ...

On the contrary, they might be even more open to new ideas since they won't judge the legitimacy of the ideas by trying to see if they conform to a particular religion or not.

Yes...and should be met with the retort of "I'd have to be so open-minded that my brains fell out to accept such a stupid idea as yours."

Now my aunt believes atheism is the belief that men made the universe and evolution is saying that men came from fish, but she believes that the universe was made for men and men is made from dirt.(she really doesn't know what atheism is or the basic theory of evolution) lilo

I generally find that to be the case with most theists and cretinists.

How often do you see cretinists saying that because a banana won't spontaneously mutate into a salmon evolution doesn't work.

Or theists saying that atheists are that way because we hate god.

Actually I plea guility as charged on not being "open" enough to all sorts of non-sense which is not supported by scientific evidence.

Thats putting new ideas through a 'filter'. In your case you filter new ideas through science
Science is the only reliable way to 'filter' ideas. Every other way, anecdotal evidence, 'common sense' popular agreement and philosophy dont actually work.Wink Shades

But it has already been established that your aunt is a moron. Just because she is not alone does not make her less of one.
