So prayer is like you bitching about Christians on an atheist website, eh?

Eh no, i just don't really see much of a purpose of praying over mundane stuff if its something like a bad situation with no hope or a love one in the hospital or being in the hospital being sick that's the only good practical uses for prayer.

Prayer is one of the most pointless, time-consuming, and counter-productive endeavors a human being can engage in. The act literally translates into doing absolutely nothing.
Not all, but many religious folks love nothing more than to sit on their ass and pray, leaving everyone else to to do every bit of the legwork and heavy lifting. These people wouldn't recognize real sacrifice if it came up and kicked them square in the face.

So why do so many xtians tell us they're going to pray for us to "see the light"?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

My go-to question when someone insists in the power of prayer is "so why is Madeline McCann still missing and likely dead?"

yes i agree people shouldnt lazily sit around and make requests to God to accomplish things for them as if God were some servant or something , im not sure why people would continue (assuming that they do) if they did not see it as being productive and start doing for themselves .
Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you will join us And the world will be as one - John Lennon

More like desperate, needing to hide behind their religion to say a simple "fuck you".

Hmmm... That's funny - I thought "Lord's Prayer" was a prayer...
There's nothing remotely like a "thank you" in the whole damn thing. Come to think of it - there isn't a "please", either...
Here's the text, if anyone needs their memory refreshed. Have your rosary beads ready.
Quote:Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Or in other words - "Hey Dad! Give us some food and don't spaz out."
"The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one." - George Bernard Shaw
