Where Did You Go?

Or perhaps the person has something personal going on in their lives that made them forget about the conversation.

There are a myriad of reasons why someone might not reply, and it's good to remember that continuing a conversation on an internet forum is often way down the list when a person is considering their priorities.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

That could be true, however the theists I am referring to are extremely active on this forum, and I always check the last time they were online.

I guess your right... because I am the only person on here that has been ignored... right?

It happened only once with you in my last thread, If You Were An Atheist. It was pretty annoying.

Well, you have a tendency to ask often before asked questions. Same as theists coming to these boards. Maybe the just don't feel the need to answer the same question over and over again. Just like us whenever another thread about morality crops up.

Also you have to make a distinction between the individuals. There are a few, I consider dishonest and cowardly enough to just do a runner when they can't answer a question. And there are others that do answer to the best of their abilities whenever possible. But they also may overlook something specifically adressed at them.

It is really frustrating because I am trying to have a constructive conversation with the person, however it is impossible.  I just wanted to know why you guys do it and maybe prevent it in the future.

Thanks!

Eventually, in any theological discussion a god-freak faces this dilemma:

Personally....I'm delighted when they STFU.  One gets tired of hearing the same old tired shit again and again.

I am not talking about a theist not answering my OP. I am talking about a 5-10 post discussion with a person, and then POOF, they are gone.

But, I feel that, if I take the time to write out a response, they should AT LEAST post that they are stepping out of the conversation. I did that once.

Where'd you go?
I miss you so
Seems like it's been forever
That you've been gone

Ahem!

I see this happen all the time in debates, honestly, and not just with theists (albeit not on this site). They either can't answer, forget to answer, don't want to answer, or see no point in answering because you're just going to keep going back and forth on the issue. I've gotten used to the opposing side going quiet after a certain point and just move on to something else.

Just send a pm as a reminder after a day or so. Theists are the minority here and can very quickly get overwhelmed. It's not intentional we can just be over run with being challenged 100 different ways by as many different people. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease and the rest get forgotten

I have three questions that I post every so often that they will not touch with a ten foot pole.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
