Kudos for that, but 'it's' should be capitalized. "It's"

Yes,but---- It is NOT the Church as in The Vatican who is sued or who pays. It is the individual Diocese. Catholic schools belong to the order which runs them. Same for convents and monasteries.

Generally speaking, the Pope is no more responsible for the personal behaviour of his priests than a CEO for an embezzling accountant. He is doubly protected by his status as a head of state. (as wast Pinochet when the Brits wanted to try him when they had him in England. No country is willing to set the precedent)

The sanctimonious old fart is morally culpable if he knew about any case(s) and did nothing. I'm pretty much convinced he did. Not only because of number and sources of allegations, but because of the Church's defensiveness. It is behaving like a tobacco company in damage control. They are even using that slimy Australian cleric George Pell to help minimise costs at all levels.. He did a splendid job here silencing and discrediting abuse victims as well protecting paedophile priests, and by extension himself and the Church.

Quote:George Pell AC (born 8 June 1941) is a Roman Catholic cardinal and the current Archbishop of Sydney in the Roman Catholic Church. He was nominated [1] as a cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 2003. He is one of the most prominent Christian ecclesiastical dignitaries [2] in Australia.

That's a good point, Pad. It's like a franchise only the franchisor runs every aspect of your business, takes most of the money and gropes your privates and any others it can get its hands on!

Sure that's not my ex you're talking about?
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.
