Atheist Children

RE: Atheist Children
I did not vote because the options provided do not represent my view regarding the matter. I think atheist parents lack of belief will influence their children, but not that it will necessarily mean that their children will be atheists as well. That is a decision one makes on his/her own.

Interesting- hang on a sec tack do you believe in heaven (or eternity with god or whatever)? And if so, is the path you're on the only way to get there?

Well Mr. Christian scientist in bizzaro world. yes I do believe in heaven. I define heaven as our spirit transcending and communing directly with God. My path, no I fail miserably. Jesus, whom I believe existed, taught that the only way to heaven is through him and his teachings. His teachings and actions resonate with a truth I'm inclined to acquiesce. Why? I thought I had already said this elsewhere?
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Hey Chatpilot. How are you dude? I was thinking of adding a 3rd option at the time which was going to be something along the lines of "Yes, parents will have some influence on their children but ultimately they will make up their own minds and decide for themselves". If I did that however I think most would have gone for that option (me included) so I deliberately kept it black and white so see what people think. I feel that parents have a huge influence on their kids, especially when they are young and in their developing stages. I don't think the outcome wil be so black and white as per my 2 voting options that I presented. I was raised a strict xtian but ended up an atheist so even though I was influenced when I was younger, ultimately I still made up my own mind when I was older.

Hey tac. I havn't been that active on the forums lately so excuse me if I'm asking you questions that others have asked before. So here goes: Why are you a xtian? Why do you believe in Jesus? This is a bit of a long article but opens up a lot of questions (I've posted this a while ago on another threat) - http://www.infidels.org/library/historic..._live.html.

Also, how can you safely discard other religions and know for sure that xtianity is real? There has been thousands of other religions before xtianity...
