United States Coin Rumor

RE: United States Coin Rumor
Amazingly, this has been an interesting topic for me.....Thank you Adrian and Eilonnway for the conversation on current monarchy and democratic line..

I had no idea that the Queen still had that much power at her foot-hill...

I understand what you are saying in that if she ever did decide to utilize it there would be a revolt. So that brings me to a history question Adrian..

When was the last time the family stepped up and utilized their authority?

Be king William soon enough, (dont think Charles is up to the job, he'd try to interfere and we'd have to chop his head off)

Did you know that if William of Orange hadnt won in Ireland David Cameron would be in line for the throne.

Anyway Adrain I agree with your republican tendencies, we should never have asked Charles the second back.

Waste of taxpayers money.

Any job an 83 year old can do easly cant be worth the millions and millions we give her each year.

I thought David Cameron was in line to the throne. To be honest, more people are than you might think. I'm pretty sure I'm connected to the line at some point, and a few friends of mine are too.

If I recall my history classes correctly, one of the reasons Charles was brought back was because people thought the Royal bloodline was chosen by God, and that God would punish them for having a republic rather than a monarch. Don't think we'd say the same now Tongue

The UK's is an openly redundant system. Quite amusing really.

I'm not.
All my relatives are peasants going way back.
According to my dad one of ancestors was hanged as a 'famous poacher'.
Guess if your going to poacher best not to be a famous one eh.
And my great grandad was a spiv, its a wonder i'm not a criminal myself.

We have the same thing in Canada, except it's called the Governor General and she in theory reports to the Queen.

I'd rather not have her salary coming out of my taxes but that's how it is. We also still have the Queen on all our coinage and some of our bills, which is annoying. I'd love to have some of the more inspirational Canadians on there instead.
