Can anyone explain how this wasn't God?

RE: Can anyone explain how this wasn't God?
Time and lack of interest prevent me from taking your post apart. I'll respond to the title of your thread:

"Can anyone explain how this wasn't God?"

Ah, the old 'shift the burden of proof' dodge beloved of apologists. (probably because they don't understand the concept)

Mate we need to explain/prove exactly nothing.YOU are the one making the claim, that honour is 100% yours, It's up to you to prove it WAS God,not to anyone else to prove it was not.

Your argument is based on a logical fallacy; argument from personal incredulity, aka "The god of the gaps". IE 'I don't understand and lack the imagination or wit to think of anything else, therefore god did it"

Bored now

PS I think you are just another disingenuous Christian apologist. I do not believe you were ever an atheist. (unless you were a REALLY stupid one)

Quote:He loved me so much He came down and revealed Himself to me in a way I could know it was Him, the only way I would ever start believing in Him again

Hmm...I guess whenever I was looking for God, he just didn't love me enough.

It sounds as if you needed something to fill the void in your life, and the drugs messed with you enough to let you think God was there to help. There's a reason some drugs are called hallucinogens.

Holy shit that was a lot of text. Anyone who read the whole thing deserves first a medal, and second a straight jacket.

To the original poster: Summarise it for me, and I may read. But your question suggests that it's been proven to be God in the first place, which I have strong doubts about.

This is a classic example of "cannabis psychosis". My dad is a psychosis doctor in sweden and deals with these sort of things all the time. Actually its just called psychosis, it has nothing to do with cannabis per se, alot of stuff can start a psychosis. Psyochosis are latent in pretty much all of us, some are just more prone then others. If i should go by my dads words, the content of the psychosis depends on the individual and their background. Some people see napoleon, others their lost dog. Considering what you wrote about you anger and previous "searching", your excperience isnt all that surprising.

If he genuinely thinks it was God, then he deserves to have wasted his time writing that.

I didn't make it past this. I bet he followed the script and talked about how unhappy he was and how he tried alcohol, drugs, or 'worldly' pleasures, but still had a yearning that none of those could fill. Given the similarity between all these 'I used to be an atheist until...' stories, I'm beginning to suspect a script or a single ghost writer.

I had an experience like that. Can anyone explain how it wasn't Gandalf and why he was wearing Bowie's Ziggy Stardust outfit, and how do giant chickens play guitar so well without fingers?

normawesjean, firstly...I couldn't read all that, it's way too long but I did read enough to get what you're on about.

Also drugs mess up your senses in many ways. Can cause hallucinations, paranoia and can mess up your ability to understand and work things out. You're deluded and because you can't explain certain events you have turned to the most simplistic of answers - God did it.

Also the whole unhappy life...you can choose what to do with your life. For a time I wasn't sure what to do with mine, now I do and I am a very happy person. Very satisfied with the path I'm on. Just use your head and explore, life is what you make of it.

I like to add that I do have doubts that you were an atheist. Every time I hear someone say "I used to be an atheist but..." or "was an atheist till"... just can't help but think....'ok here's another Christian making up bullshit.'
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
