Here is the female that we rescued, Wags.
Most of you probably read some in the shout but here is a short story again.
Dumped at the pound in the middle of the night in the live lock box. We got the call two days later, she had already entered the humane society adoption system. They called the owner and she stated that she could no longer take care of two dogs and had to give one up. No more personal details given except that the dog came from a puppy mill breeder here in Nebraska (yeah, we knew of her) and she is 7 yrs old. Normally the breeder is contacted but she has since died.
We got called by our breed rescue contact at the pound, verified the breed, did the evaluation, and determined she qualified for the breed rescue program. The pound vet did some neglected dental work, trimmed her nails, cleaner her ears, gave shots and she was chipped. Had to pay a $200 adoption fee to get her out of the pound system. They hadn't bathed her and she stank like holy hell. Got her placed with a foster about an hour away. They bathed her, trimmed her up (had to cut out some matting) and did the flea and tick/heartworm prophylaxis. Will go to a private vet Saturday for an additional check.
The foster has a pack, one other terv, a dutch shepherd and a drop kick yorkie. Apparently Wags is fitting in well. The dutch want's nothing to do with her but hasn't been aggressive yet (he's the pack leader). A couple of minor behavior issues, food stealing (counter top/table), not leash trained at all and chases cars. They say she tries to be a lap dog which is different. Usually tervs are a bit more aloof. Neither of mine try to sit in my lap, but then, maybe they know something.
The rescue has the names of 3 vetted potential adopters looking for an older terv. Hopefully one will fit. I predict a road trip, soon.
